Alumni Skills Klub ("ASK")
Our range gear. Our instructors. Your gain!
What is the problem?
We have likely all heard someone in a teaching role suggest that “[skill X] is just like riding a bicycle: once you learn, you never forget.”
Unfortunately, shooting is definitely not skill X. Shooting is what we call a “perishable skill.” This means that without proper and frequent practice, our ability to shoot diminishes quickly. This is tied to the nature of the skill—not to the nature of the practitioner, so even if you’re a card-carrying superhero, your skills are waning right now.
Simply put, to become a good shooter, you must seek training, and to stay a good shooter, you must practice well and often.
What is the solution?
To help our students stay sharp, we are pleased to present the Alumni Skills Klub—or “ASK” for short.
Who may attend ASK events?
If you have previously trained with MoD, congratulations—you are a member of our Alumni Skills Klub! As such, you are entitled, invited, and encouraged to attend ASK events!*
What exactly is an ASK event?
ASK events are our recurring, low-cost range days, designed to help you maintain your firearms skills, specifically…
- safety practices
- gun-handling techniques
- shooting fundamentals
How does it work?
We know that most of our students are aware they need to practice. We also know that most casual gun owners don’t want to bear the expense of range gear, nor can they often afford the time or inconvenience of setting up their own range days.
Never fear—we’ve got you covered!
On ASK day, our diligent instructors will…
- set up an extensive array of targets that will both delight and challenge you
- measure out and mark all the distances so your progress can be quantifiable
- insure the layout is safe
- conduct a safety briefing for all participants at the opening of the event
- supervise fun, productive activities that will enable you to practice your shooting and gun-handling
- observe participants and provide helpful, constructive coaching
- answer questions (Hey, “ASK” is not an accidental acronym!)
- encourage you
- bid you farewell and then do all the cleanup
In short, we look after all the work and expense so that you are free to learn and practice!
Sign up today for our next ASK event and add even more value to your initial training!
*We reserve the right to disqualify or expel students from future training and events with Ministry of Defense, including ASK, based on egregious unsafe or improper conduct in previous training.
